In March 2008, Lloyd’s Register of Shipping, a world leader in independent certification services, awarded Johnson Matthey Malaysia the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001:2007 certification.

Achieving OHSAS 18001:2007 certification in six months is a major milestone for the company. The audit was conducted in February 2008. With the support of General Manager Dhayalan Visuvanathan and a strong lead from management and the Environmental Health and Safety Committee, Johnson Matthey Malaysia received certification.

The integrated Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety Management System transforms risk assessments into corrective actions, promotes a safe and healthy working environment, aids legislative compliance and improves overall performance. External certification confirms that we are meeting the highest standards.

All members of Johnson Matthey Malaysia’s Emergency Preparedness and Response team have received training on how to act in emergency situations and the business has made a pledge to continue the improvement through a ‘plan-do-check-action’ cycle as part of its commitment to maintaining its OHSAS certification.
