Battery Technologies is focused on developing advanced materials and technologies to meet the requirements of high performance battery applications and comprises our Battery Materials and Battery Systems businesses.

Battery Materials

In Battery Materials we are focusing on materials for highly demanding applications, particularly automotive. The performance of today's battery chemistry continues to be a limiting factor for battery electric vehicles, particularly in the cathode part of the battery cell.

We are a major supplier of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode materials for light and heavy duty vehicles. We continue to develop our leading position in LFP by further enhancing our products in a market which is expected to grow strongly.

We also plan to expand into a wider range of materials, including nickel rich cathode materials which offer improved range compared to LFP. To support this we have licensed the CAM-7 TM platform of nickel rich cathode material technologies that are particularly suited to demanding, high energy density applications such as battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles.

Battery Systems

Our Battery Systems business is an independent provider of battery design, development and supply for demanding automotive applications and also manufactures high volumes of batteries for e-bikes, power tools and mobile technologies from its facility in Gliwice, Poland.
