Animal Testing

In common with all companies developing new substances and bringing them to market, Johnson Matthey is required by UK, European and international legislation to make toxicity data available.

As a company we fully support the work being undertaken to provide alternative in vitro techniques for testing. However, it is clear that the science is not available to provide a complete alternative to in vivo testing at the present time.

We always attempt to limit testing by undertaking collaborative work with competitors, suppliers, customers and trade associations where primary data is unavailable from historical literature.

Conformance

It is the responsibility of directors and senior management to ensure that all employees who directly or indirectly report to them are fully aware of Johnson Matthey’s policies and values in the conduct of the company’s businesses. It is also the responsibility of directors and senior management to lead by example and to demonstrate the highest standards of integrity in carrying out their duties on behalf of the company. These issues are further safeguarded through corporate governance processes and monitoring by the board and sub-committees to the board.
