Mike Cleare assumes operational
responsibility for EMD from Geoff Wild who will be leaving the
company at the end of February 1997. Dr Cleare has held a number
of key positions during his 30 year career with Johnson Matthey.
He was appointed to the Board in September 1995 and has since
led the recovery in CSD. Dr Cleare will continue to be responsible
for the Company's growing Biomedical Products business.
David Davies, Chairman and Chief
Executive of JM, commented:
"Mike Cleare returns to EMD at
an important time. The Division has grown substantially over
the past few years and is poised to open up a significant market
opportunity with its development of plastic laminate packaging
for microprocessors."
"JM's factory at Chippewa Falls
in Wisconsin, is gearing up for full production of the product
and has just received final product certification from its major
customer. The project is on track to become a significant profit
generator for the Group next year."
Neil Carson, currently Managing
Director, CSD Europe, will take over the responsibility for CSD
as Divisional Director, and will report to Chris Clark.
