Neil Carson, aged
42, who will be responsible for Catalytic Systems
and Chemicals, joined Johnson Matthey in 1980. Neil
graduated in Engineering and was appointed to his
current position as Division Director, Catalytic
Systems in 1997. Before that he held senior management
positions in the Precious Metals Division as well
as Catalytic Systems in both the UK and the US.
David Morgan, aged
41, will be responsible for the Group's Corporate
Development activities and Legal and Secretarial
affairs. David graduated in Natural Sciences and
qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG in
1982. He joined Johnson Matthey from KPMG as a Division
Finance Director in 1988. He has been Finance and
Planning Director of all the Group's divisions and
was appointed to his current role as Director of
Corporate Development in 1995.

the appointments, Michael Miles, Chairman of Johnson
Matthey, said:

strengthen Johnson Matthey's executive team at a
time of significant change in our business portfolio."
