Cookson Matthey Ceramics Announces New Chief Executive

Cookson Matthey Ceramics plc ("CMC"), the ceramics supplies joint venture owned 50:50 by Cookson Group plc and Johnson Matthey Plc, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Fishler as Chief Executive with effect from 1 October 1996. Mr Fishler, is currently Chief Executive Officer, Vesuvius Americas, (a Cookson Group subsidiary). He is an American, aged 47 years, and joined Cookson Group in 1975.

Mark Fishler will be based at CMC's headquarters in London, and will relocate from the US to take up this new appointment.

Mark Fishler succeeds Chris Clark who has been Chief Executive of CMC since it was established in July 1994. Mr Clark, who was recently appointed Chief Operating Officer, Johnson Matthey plc, becomes Chairman of CMC in succession to Richard Oster. Stephen Howard, Joint Group Managing Director, Cookson Group plc, is appointed Deputy Chairman, CMC, also with effect from 1 October.

Also joining CMC as Finance Director will be Michael Roller who is currently Group Corporate Development Manager at Johnson Matthey.

Commenting on the changes David Davies, Chairman and Chief Executive of Johnson Matthey, said:
