Johnson Matthey Appoints Two New Non-Executive Directors Johnson Matthey announces the appointment of Charles Mackay and Mike Dearden as non-executive directors of the company. Mr Mackay's appointment is with immediate effect. Mr Dearden will join the Board in April this year.

Following its recent strategic review, Johnson Matthey has formed a new Catalysts and Chemicals Division which will be the company's primary focus for growth in the coming years. Last month Johnson Matthey moved FTSE classification from the Engineering to the Chemicals sector. Both Mr Mackay and Mr Dearden have a great deal of valuable and relevant experience of the international markets in which Johnson Matthey operates.

Charles Mackay was Group Chief Executive of Inchcape PLC from 1991 to 1996 and also its Deputy Chairman from 1995 to 1996. He is currently Deputy Chairman of Eurotunnel PLC/SA and of Thistle Hotels plc and is also a member of the Supervisory Board of Gucci Group NV. He previously served on a number of Boards including those of HSBC Holdings PLC and British Airways PLC.

Following an early career in the chemicals industry Mike Dearden has, since 1980, held a series of senior positions with Burmah Castrol PLC. He is currently Chief Executive of Burmah Castrol's global Lubricants business and a main board director of Burmah Castrol PLC.
